Match Day 14 - Qilo Leads Team Jessa Stroll
26th March 2006

Team Jessa condemned Team Somji to finishing bottom of the table with a comfortable 7-2 victory. Hasnain Jessa netted twice as Team Jessa got off to a flying start, and Aqil Najafi scored a fine hat-trick to take his goal tally to 19 for the season.

League Champions elect Team Sardar beat Team Asaria 3-0 to stay 8 points clear at the top. An early goal from Abbas Hasham and 2 late strikes from Hassan Syed was enough to see off Team Asaria. With only 3 games to go, anything but a defeat against Team Jessa next week, means Team Sardar will deservedly win the league.

Hasnain Jessa scored two goals inside the first 5 minutes as Team Jessa took a 5-0 lead within 12 minutes against Team Somji. 2 goals from Aqil Najafi and one from Calbe Ali Najarali made up the five goals which put the game beyond Team Somji and from there on in it was more a case of damage limitation.

Team Somji then started to play football and matched Team Jessa in every position. Aqil Najafi completed his hat-trick half way through the second half before a couple of consolation goals from Mehboob Alidina and Sajjad Kanji. Calbe Ali Najarali finished the rout with his second of the game and 12th of the season.

Aqil Najafi was in a buoyant mood after his hat-trick declaring that "I do it for my fans… and Phonzy!"

Team Sardar’s quest for 3 points and being one step closer to the league championship wasn’t made easy by a stubborn Team Asaria. Abbas Hasham opened the scoring after only 2 minutes and many expected the flood gates to open. To the credit of Team Asaria they fought hard and both teams had numerous chances to score.

Team Asaria’s stand in goalkeeper, Murtaza Kanji, made some great saves from Shan Sardar, Abbas Hasham and Hassan Syed. However, it was Team Sardar’s stand in goalkeeper, Saif Al-Mousawy, who’s penalty save from Taha Jaffer early in the second half when the score was 1-0 that had the biggest impact on the match.

Nabeel Jafferali was given a two minute penalty for hacking at Rizwan Merchant. "Nabeel couldn’t handle my silky Ronaldinho skills" said Rizwan Merchant after the game. Nabeel countered with "I didn’t touch him, he tripped over his own shoe laces."

Team Asaria ran out of steam towards the end and two great strikes from Hassan Syed assured Team Sardar of all three points.
