A champions display from Team Sardar saw them score three goals is as many minutes at the death to beat Team Somji 5-3 in a thrilling match. Abbas Hasham scored a hat-trick to take his tally to 29 goals in 16 games. It looked like business as usual for the champions as they strolled to an early 2-0 lead. A goal from whom else but Abbas Hasham opened the scoring and Sheni Jr. netted shortly after to take Team Sardar two up. Mohamed Imran Amirali scored an extraordinary goal from just passed the half way line when he saw the goalkeeper running back towards the goal after a clearance. The ball zipped passed the keeper and Team Somji were right back in it. Naseer Najafi levelled the score just after half time with a neat drive in to the bottom corner. It was a nice dummy to send the keeper the wrong way and then a cool side foot in to the bottom corner to make it 3-2 to Team Somji. With the clock ticking away, three goals in quick succession from Team Sardar turned defeat in to victory. First Salman Ganawi’s shot was parried away by the keeper but only as far as Abbas Hasham who scored his 2nd of the game. Salman then added one himself by slipping the ball through the goalie’s legs. Abbas Hasham then completed his hat-trick a minute later, claiming his 29th goal of the season. Aqil Najafi added a third just after half time and Hasnain Jessa rifled in the fourth a few minutes later. Adam Asaria and Taha Jaffer pulled a couple of goals back for Team Asaria, but Mehboob Ajwani’s 14th goal of the campaign made it 5-2 which stopped the mini revival. Team Asaria’s versatile top goalscorer Aarif “Phonzy” Fazal played a more defensive role towards the end of the second half and marked Team Jessa’s midfield maestro Asif Somji out of the game.
