Match Day 10 - Asaria tames Jessa
19th February 2006

Team Asaria finally put the demons of the 10-0 beating by Team Jessa behind them by winning a fiercely competitive match against Team Jessa 4-1 to record their second win in a row.

Two thunderous goals from team captain Adam Asaria sent Team Asaria on their way before a late collision with Arish saw Adam taken off with what seemed to be a head injury. With 8 minutes to go, Adam Asaria and Arish both with their eyes on the ball clashed in the air, Adam took a knock to the head and was on the floor clearly in pain. The game was stopped for 5 minutes whilst Adam received treatment.

The game started with an onslaught towards Team Asaria’s goal but the usual Team Jessa potency was missing. Adam Asaria found himself through on goal in a counter-attack and drove the ball passed stand-in keeper Arish. Team Asaria defended deep to see the first half out 1-0.

The second half started with a quick tempo and within a minute a powerful drive from Adam Asaria found its way passed the second stand-in keeper Calbe-Ali Najarali making it 2-0.

Team Jessa kept the pressure on trying to pull a goal back and on another Team Asaria counter-attack the ball was played through to Aarif “Phonzy” Fazal whose deft lob trickled in after the keeper found himself in no mans land. Rizwan Merchant’s cheeky free kick went in off the keeper giving Team Asaria a 4-0 lead.

Aqil Najafi picked up his second booking of the season for dissent which means he will miss next week’s match against Team Somji.

Mehboob Ajwani pulled one back from Team Jessa from the spot after Taha Jaffer was judged to have handled the ball in the area.

Mazaher Rajani was sent off for swearing at the ref which means he will receive an automatic 2 match suspension starting next week.

Team Sardar carried on with their quest to be crowned league champions with a convincing 6-3 victory over Team Somji. Team Somji’s new signing, Mohammed “Speedy” Hasham, had a good debut but couldn’t help them to their first victory of the season.

Shan Sardar opened the scoring for Team Sardar before Abbas Pardhan levelled the score. Top goalscorer Abbas Hasham restored Team Sardar’s lead and then Shan Sardar’s second of the game gave Team Sardar a 3-1 lead.

Team Somji kept on fighting and through a nice run and low drive from Abbas Pardhan pulled it back to 3-2.

Hassan Syed scored just before half-time restoring Team Sardar’s two goal advantage.

Shan Sardar completed his hat-trick in the second half and there was still time for a thunder bolt from Abbas Hasham to make it 6-2. Abbas Hasham’s tally is now 18 for the season, 4 ahead of second place Aqil Najafi.

Abbas Pardhan completed his hat-trick when he deflected Mehboob Alidina's shot in past Munawarali Najafi making it 6-3.
