| Match Day 9 - Sardar stuns Jessa with late goals | 29th January 2006 |
|
After an unexpected week off due to a scheduling conflict at the Scarborough Soccer Association the ZFC league continued with Match Day 9. Team Sardar came from a goal behind to beat Team Jessa 3-1 in a well fought match. The victory means Team Sardar leap frog over Team Jessa in the league table and are now 2 points clear at the top. The game started off with high intensity, both teams having numerous shots on goal. Calbe Ali Najarali opened the scoring for Team Jessa just before half time. Team Sardar came out for the second half all fired up, Hassan Syed pulled it back to 1-1 just after the break. Abbas Hasham added two more to take the score to 3-1. At the other end of the table, the match between Team Asaria and Team Somji looked to be destined to finish goalless until two very late goals in quick succession from Haji Aarif “Phonzy” Fazal and Taha Jaffer gave Team Asaria all 3 points. Team Asaria and Team Somji were both confident of recording a victory in this bottom of the table clash, with only pride at stake as the league title is out of sight for both teams. Both teams had decent efforts with Taha Jaffer, Murtaza Kanji and Adam Asaria all hitting the frame of the goal as well as numerous good saves from Team Somji’s goalkeeper Hassanain Somji. For Team Somji, Mohamed Imran Amirali had a couple of good shots on goal as well as some good long range efforts from Naseer Najafi. There is a two week break in the fixtures, Match Day 10 is scheduled for Saturday, 18th February 2006.
