| Match Day 8 - Team Sardar close gap on Team Jessa | 15th January 2006 |
|
A spirited performance by Team Somji held league leaders Team Jessa to a 3-3 draw. It looked like it was going to be business as usual as Team Jessa took an early lead, but Team Somji fought back to get a well deserved draw. Both teams had chances to win the game towards the end. Calbe Ali Najarali missed a penalty with 8 minutes to go after Mohamed Imran Amirali had handled the ball in the area. Moments later, Mohamed Imran Amirali had a chance to seal the game when he skipped around two defenders but his shot hit the underside of the crossbar. Arish opened the scoring for Team Jessa who looked like they were cruising. After some good pressure from Team Somji they won a penalty, Mehboob Alidina stepped up and blasted it straight down the middle and made it 1-1. Mohamed Imran Amirali made it 2-1 to Team Somji with a nice first time low drive which nestled in to the bottom corner. Team Somji only held the lead for one minute as Team Jessa went straight down the other end and Aqil Najafi bagged his 14th goal of the season making it 2-2. Goals from Calbe Ali Najarali and Abbas Pardhan meant the game finished 3-3. A booking for Mehboob Alidina late on means he be suspended for next weeks bottom of the table clash with Team Asaria. Team Sardar carried on their charge for the league title with a 7-0 victory over Team Asaria. Two goals a piece for top goalscorer Abbas Hasham and captain Shan Sardar helped them on their way. Team Sardar are only a point behind Team Jessa, which sets up an intriguing match between the top two next week. Team Asaria started the game a player short and held Team Sardar at bay for the first 9 minutes. Sheni Jr. opened the scoring for Team Sardar and a brace for Abbas Hasham and one for Shan Sardar before the break made it 4-0 at half time. Goals from Salman Ganawi, Shan Sardar and Hasan Syed in the second half took the tally up to 7. Team Sardar will be looking to break their duck against Team Jessa next week in the top of the table clash. Whilst Team Sardar have won all 6 games against Team Asaria and Team Somji, they have lost both of their games against Team Jessa 4-3 and 5-2. Team Sardar defender Nabeel Jaffarali said that he was very happy with his team’s victory but was surprised by his own performance. "I was surprised by my performance, I played well today and all my passes were pin-point accurate and always went to the player I was passing to."
