Match Day 6 - Team Jessa Cruise To Victory
4th December 2005

A comprehensive 5-2 victory over Team Sardar sees Team Jessa move to the top of the table. Team Jessa are now 3 points clear of rivals Team Sardar. Team Sardar didn’t cause too many problems for Team Jessa in the first half, goals from Calbe Ali Najarali, Aqil Najafi and Mehboob Ajwani saw Team Jessa go in at half time three goals ahead.

Abbas Hasham kept up his record of scoring in every game this season by notching his 12th goal in 6 games just after half time giving Team Sardar some hope. Aqil Najafi put away his 2nd goal of the game and 9th of the Season to restore the 3 goal lead and make it 4-1.

A late consolation goal from Shan Sardar made it 4-2, but another goal from the on form Team Jessa through Calbe Ali Najarali in the dying seconds meant the game finished 5-2.

Arish was booked early in the 2nd half which means he will be suspended for Team Jessa’s next game on 10th December against Team Asaria. Asif Somji also picked up a booking for a blatant foul, when asked about his yellow card Asif was quoted as saying “I deserved it”.

Honours were even in the bottom of the table clash between Team Asaria and Team Somji as the game finished 1-1. Team Somji remain bottom of the league but pick up their first point of the season.

The game got underway in fine fashion when a blistering 20 yard free kick from Hassanain Mamdani flew past a crowded penalty area and rifled in to the back of the net... Roberto Carlos would have been proud to claim that one! (Please allow for some artistic license from the reporter). The free-kick was indirect, however, a costly lapse in concentration from Team Somji’s captain and goalie Hassanain Somji saw him try to stop the shot and touched the ball on the way in meaning the goal stood.

Mustafa Alidina equalised mid way through the first half with a nice run and shot from the left side of midfield. Mustafa is now Team Somji’s joint top goalscorer on 3 with Azeem Amir who has now finished serving his 2 game suspension for a scuffle with Team Sardar’s Mahmud Bhimji.

Match Day 7 will be followed by a one month break for the Christmas and New Year holidays and the ZFC season will restart on 14th January.
