| ZFC Season Kicks Off in Style | 14th November 2005 |
After the first round of games in the ZFC season there is nothing to choose from between any of the four teams. There are three teams who have a joint lead separated only by goal difference with 2 wins out of 3 games. Team Somji are currently propping up the table, however they have given three spirited performances but are still looking for their first point. All of the 6 games so far have been exciting with an average of 5.8 goals per game. Have the defenses weakened from last season or is there a move to more attacking Chelsea style football? Team Sardar are the leagues top goalscorers with 12 goals in 3 games, an average of 4 goals a game. Abbas Hasham is the league's top marksman with 7 goals in 3 games, Aarif "Phonzy" Fazal is not far behind with 5 goals and last years golden boot winner Azeem Amir has netted 3 times. The best defenses in the league are Team Asaria and Team Jessa who have conceded 8 goals in 3 games; I wonder what Sir Alex would have to say about that. Team Somji and Team Sardar have conceded 9 goals and 10 goals respectively. There haven't been any major flash-points in the first three weeks, with only one red and one yellow card being shown and thankfully there have been no forfeits. There are 4 games left before the Christmas break, remember that there are no games scheduled for 17th December, 24th December, 31st December and 7th January.
